Privacy Notice
Draft Revision: 2 — August 12, 2026
Effective Date: August 17, 2026
This is placeholder legal language prepared for internal review and has not been reviewed by an attorney. It should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before the Site launches or this policy is presented to users.
Harter Product Advisors, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the web app KnowUsers.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Site and the choices you have associated with that data.
1. Information Collection and Use
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our service to you.
Participants we collect data about
- Authors (Product Managers): the primary user of our web app is a software product manager, or other authorized person working for a software company, that holds an account within the KnowUsers.com service that either directly creates, manages or collaborates on the creation and posting of poll questions or surveys created in and hosted by KnowUsers.com.
- Respondent: the person that engages with and responds to poll questions or surveys created in KnowUsers.com, and presented via integration, through a website, web app or other software application, managed by the Author's company or employer.
Types of Data Collected
- Personal Data: While using our Site, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your email address, name, phone number, and address.
- Respondent data: Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, the respondent's email address, name, phone number, and address.
- Usage Data: We may also collect information on how the Site is accessed and used ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.
2. Use of Data
Harter Product Advisors, LLC uses the collected data for various purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Site
- To notify you about changes to our Site
- To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Site when you choose to do so
- To enable communications between your application and ours, for the purpose of displaying content created in our app and displayed through yours
- To provide customer support
- To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Site
- To monitor the usage of the Site
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues
3. Multitenancy and Data Isolation
KnowUsers is a multitenant platform: each Author's (Product Manager's) account is a separate tenant, and your account's data — including your Respondents' data — is kept logically isolated from every other Author's account. This isolation is enforced at multiple levels of our system: within the application itself, at the database level, and for the public-facing endpoints our embed component uses to collect Respondent data, which are scoped to your account's unique integration key rather than to any other identifier.
As an explicit, limited exception to this isolation, designated App Administrators who operate the Site may access an Author account for defined administrative purposes (for example, managing Pilot program access). This exception does not apply to Respondent-facing functionality and is not used for routine access to your account. Every such access is recorded in an internal, append-only audit log capturing who accessed the account, what was viewed or changed, and when.
4. Transfer of Data
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
5. Disclosure of Data
Harter Product Advisors, LLC may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with a legal obligation
- Protect and defend the rights or property of Harter Product Advisors, LLC
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site
- Protect the personal safety of users of the Site or the public
- Protect against legal liability
6. Security of Data
The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data — including the tenant-isolation safeguards described in Section 3 — we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Service Providers
We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Site ("Service Providers"), to provide the Site on our behalf, to perform Site-related services, or to assist us in analyzing how our Site is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. Our current Service Providers include:
- Railway — application hosting and database infrastructure.
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing and subscription billing for paid plans. See Section 2 (Subscription Billing) of our Terms of Use for more detail.
- Resend / Postmark — delivery of transactional email (billing reminders, response exports, and account notices).
8. Links to Other Sites
Our Site may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Site does not address anyone under the age of 18 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For routine or non-material changes, we will post the updated Privacy Policy on this page with a new "Last Revised" date, and you are advised to review it periodically. If we make a material change — one that meaningfully affects how we collect, use, or disclose your Personal Data — we will notify you and require that you review and re-accept the updated Privacy Policy before you can continue using the Site.
